i use a lot of things when i research and write and when the art comes — pads of legal paper, phones, mini-recorders, post-it notes — and this too, BP1.

BP1 is a reference — i was diagnosed with bipolar 1 over two decades ago. the art is informed by, and comes as a result of, my bp1 — but it’s never about it. but that’s for the art page, and for the gallery, which explains it better, with art world words. ENGAGE Projects in Chicago began representing me in 2020; since then, the gallery has placed 1 to 2 pieces a year with established collections in the US. The art is not for everyone. Some say it’s not even art. But if it’s your fix, you won’t quite find it anywhere else.

BP1 is in my studio, located in the Arts District of Portland Maine, two blocks from the Portland Museum of Art, and four blocks from the Atlantic Ocean.
